1.Use the image below to help you to answer the following question

The line of action of force is a long distance from the pivot. This means that the wheelbarrow acts as a force multiplier. This makes it easier to carry the heavy load.

2. Use the image below to help you to answer the following question

Explain why using a longer oar is helpful when rowing the boat

The hollow ring on the side of the boat that the oar passes through will act as a pivot. Using a longer oar will increase the distance between the line of action of the force and the pivot, this causes a force multiplier effect. 

3. Use the image below to answer the following question

Identify the pivot  in the diagram above and also indicate what both men could do to allow them to lift the rock more easily

The pivot is marked, both men should move their hands along the pole, away from the pivot. This will increase the distance between the pivot and where the line of action of force is.
