Answers to AQA GCSE Forces and Elasticity
Practice Questions
1.Define the term force
A force is a push or pull that acts on an object due to the interaction with another object.
2.How do forces affect the shape of an object?
Forces can change the shape of an object by:
1.Compression of object
2.Bending of object
3.Stretching of object
3. Explain the difference between elastic and inelastic deformation
When stretching forces are applid to an object, the object will be deformed.
Under inelastic deformation the deformation is permanent and stays even when the force applied is removed.
Under elastic deformation the deformation is temporary and the object returns to its original length and shape when the forces are removed.
