Answers to AQA GCSE Calculating Weight

Practice Questions

1.Calculate the weight of a tennis ball that has a mass of 45g. Assume g = 9.8N/kg

Convert the 45g into kg

45/1000 = 0.045kg

W = m x g

W = 0.045 x 9.8 = 0.44N

2. On Planet ABCD a man has a weight of 2000N and a mass of 100kg. Calculate the value for gravitational field strength for planet ABCD.

g = W/m

g = 2000/100

g = 20N/kg

3. Calculate the mass of an object that has a weight of 5000N on Earth, when g = 9.8N/kg

m = W/g

m = 5000/9.8

m = 510kg
