1. Describe the difference between irradiation and contamination

Contamination is when a material will contain radioactive atoms, so the material becomes radioactive. Irradiation is when a material is exposed to nuclear radiation, but the material itself is not radioactive.

2.Explain why a lead lined apron would not protect you in an environment where the radioactive gas radon is present. 

Lead lined apron will only protect the skin from radiation. Radon gas can be breathed in, the apron will not protect against this. A respirator is needed to protect the gas exchange system

3.How can the use of robots to carry out work help to reduce hazards to humans for exposure to radiation

Using a remote controlled robot can eliminate from humans being in at risk areas, therefore reducing the hazards significantly.
